Family Learning
General English sessions are available for families who want to be able to communicate effectively with English speakers and who need to understand the written and spoken word. The 4 skills of reading, writing, listening and speaking are at the heart of the sessions, with great emphasis being placed on vocabulary and pronunciation.

Beginners
This course helps to develop basic English language skills and build confidence when communicating in English. We focus on learning the basic structures in English and building vocabulary using a topic-based approach. The language is practised by doing pair work and role-plays. We also look to develop reading, writing, listening and speaking skills.

Intermediate
This course is intended for people who already have some experience in English and covers describing situations and events, writing texts and coping with coherent language. We learn how to describe aspects of the past and our environment and communicate confidently using past and conditional forms. The course is done to the B1 level of The Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).

Advanced
Aimed at students with a high level of English, the course develops use of all forms of the tenses and the use of adverbs and prepositions in more detail. It encourages participants to autonomously understand key points of complex text and improvise on speech. The course is done to the B2 level of The CEFR.

Business English
As a qualified Business Studies teacher with experience in a range of industries, Phil can put together a training programme tailored to individual needs. Once we have received an enquiry, we will contact you directly to discuss a programme.

IELTS
IELTS is an English language assessment test for access to colleges, universties, immigration and work. IELTS has two formats: Academic and General Training.

ACADEMIC
This format is for those wishing to study abroad in an English-speaking institution of higher education. In this case, the test assesses a candidate’s knowledge of English academic language.

GENERAL TRAINING
This format is for those who wish to go abroad for secondary education, immigration or work. The test measures English language proficiency in a practical everyday context.

The test has four sections: Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking. The Listening and Speaking sections of IELTS are the same for both formats whereas The Reading and Writing sections are different.
