About Us

Our purpose is to provide educational learning services and reading materials in the form of books and short articles.

Educational Learning Services
Based in Lowestoft on the east coast of England, we are a husband and wife team who are both UK-qualified teachers. In September 2013 we spent a year living and teaching in a rural part of Ghana and thoroughly enjoyed being with people who were different to us.

However, we also discovered how difficult it can be to integrate into a foreign culture. On our return we determined to make a positive difference in the lives of those foreign to UK culture and in particular language-learning.

Heather Stoddart is a highly-experienced primary teacher of over thirty years in Key Stages 1 & 2 and Early Years. Having undertaken numerous co-ordinator roles in Literacy, Humanities and RE she has current and in-depth knowledge of the National Curriculum and has regularly mentored newly Qualified Teachers. She has highly developed expertise in phonics-based learning and provided training to teachers.

phil-sept16 Phil is CELTA-trained (Cambridge TEFL) and has taught English (ESL), Business Studies and ICT at various levels in secondary schools and college since 2001. Phil is also registered as a Homestay Tutor with Living Learning English, a national organisation and has access to their expertise and resources.

We have been running Conversational English classes since June 2015 with the help of volunteers and hosting young people in our house for many years. We have run numerous church-based youthclubs and still do so. At various times, Heather works voluntarily for community projects such as “Friends of the Family” (helping vulnerable adults), setting up collections for a local “food bank“ and running “Mums and Toddler” groups. None of this information is provided to boast, but simply to provide assurance that we can be trusted!!!

Reading materials
Publication of books and short articles began in June 2008 with the book A12 to Heaven, an uplifting account from Phil of the goodness of God experienced through tragedy in his own family. With this story receiving national coverage, the book quickly sold out its initial publication of 3000 copies and entered into a 2nd edition.
